The Birth And Being Of Canaan
CANAAN Ministries , founded by Pr.Manoj Samuel as early as 1998 has slowly evolved into Canaan Evangelical Church, which is now become “Canaan City of Refuge”. Pr.Manoj started to minister along with a small team , after his salvation experience in the month of February, in the year 1998.He started by sharing his testimony and playing drums during worship sessions. Gradually God led him to start weekly meetings on Thursday evenings from the year 1999,and the first ever Canaan Thursday meeting was on the 11th of November.
On September 15th, in the year 2000,Pr.Manoj married Sis.MonicaManoj . Sister MonicaManoj has stood in one accord ,ever since their marriage and God has blessed the couple with 3 children. You can know more about each of them under the “canaan Family “ tab.
Meanwhile, the evangelistic meetings and campaigns were and still, are a part of Pastor.Manoj’s schedule , but the main burden has always been winning souls in T.Nagar, Chennai, the home soil that witnessed Pastor’s transformation from a careless teen into a powerful preacher and also a gentle shepherd to his congregation. .
The weekly Canaan evangelistic meetings in T.Nagar have been conducted on a regular basis ,since it’s conception.
T.Nagar, Pondy Bazar – considered the heart of Chennai, comprises huge commercial establishments, residence of the rich and the famous, memorial houses for leaders but no house for the Creator God. The meeting Locations (within T.nagar) varied constantly as meeting halls were hired on an hourly basis. In spite of such constraints, not a single Thursday meeting was annulled even during tsunami and storms. Finally in the year 2010, February ,God enabled the couple to secure a rented hall on a continuous occupancy basis, wherein the mid-week Thursday fellowship meetings have been conducted ever since . Through the couple’s evangelism, hundreds were saved from bondages, led to baptism and anointing, marriages restored and believers led to identify their calling. Whenever a soul was won or won back, they led them to a local spirit filled church to enable them to grow in their spiritual stature.
since the beginning of 2012 , the Lord did lead them clearly, to start Sunday morning Services to shepherd, nurture and grow the flock of new believers and keep the church gates open and wide to receive the needy soul on the dawn of the Lord’s day .
Thus was born “Canaan Evangelical Church” which has now become “Canaan City of Refuge”
Canaan church powered by the Holy spirit and Pastored by Manoj Samuel & Mrs Monica Manoj, operates with an evangelistic vision and burden for souls. The Pastors and members believe, the day we cease to evangelise is the day of decline and slow death of any church.
We are marching on triumphantly breaking into the strongholds of satan and standing in the gap to plead on behalf of this land .
The ALMIGHTY GOD OF ISRAEL alone enabled Ps.Manoj & Sis.Monica Manoj to establish Canaan church in 2012 –July 22nd (after 14 yrs of evangelistic ministry) according to His will. The church in accordance to God’s plan and purpose has been blossoming into a vibrant and dynamic congregation.
